Elusive. Memory. Transitory. Mark. Floating. Object. Place.
Blown Away is a joint exhibition by Edinburgh based artists Mairi Taylor and
Zoë Fothergill. Presented together these discrete bodies of work begin
a conversation that touches on action, its residue and an endeavour to capture
the fleeting.
Zoë Fothergill will show a new group of works on paper created using bubbles
as a drawing tool. Alongside these products of play an improvised mechanical
experiment will lay bare the process that made them. Heath Robinson meets playgroup,
meets fine-art drawing.
Mairi Taylor creates sculptural landscapes that explore the space of memory.
Reverberations between an absent place and the present space are initiated
through arrangements of photographs and represented objects. Notions of memory,
time and action float to the surface. Landscape meets object meets image.
Blown Away is a momentary encounter that will occupy for one weekend only a
temporary exhibition space in Tollcross.
